PSGA Blog Number 14: CoHaD Sabel and Commuter Senator Heberling Resign

On Wednesday, Feb. 3, the PSGA met to discuss the security issues at the Stood and financial matters. It was announced that Coordinator of Histories and Documents Steve Sabel and Commuter Senator Courtney Heberling have resigned and guest speakers from NYPIRG and the class of 2010 senior gift committee asked the PSGA for support on various projects.

PSGA Blog Number 13: Vacant Senate Seats a Prime Concern for PSGA

On Wednesday, Jan. 27 the PSGA held their first meeting of the spring semester. The primary issue was the introduction of candidates to fill the newly-vacant Senate seats. There are openings in the Music Conservatory, Alumni Village, and Fort Awesome.

PSGA Blog Number 12: President Collymore Appraises the Senate's Performance

The PSGA met on Wednesday, Dec. 2 and discussed topics involving the "state of the union," as well as new Council of Clubs, Organizations, and Services bylaws. President Kevin Collymore also addressed several minor changes the PSGA has seen since the start of the year as well as what he hopes to see in the future.

PSGA Blog Number 11: Sabel Impeached Despite Executive's Pleas to Reconsider

Coordinator of Histories and Documents Steve Sabel was impeached by the Senate on Wednesday, Nov. 18 moments after Coordinator of Finance Nico Marceca urged the Senate to reconsider the proposition.

In response to the accusations presented by former Parliamentarian Russell Zambito at Sabel, Marceca filed charges against all but three members of the Senate. However, his plea was ultimately discarded as the Senate validated the impeachment shortly after.

This week, the PSGA met and discussed the repeal of the Jaffe Clause, which involves certain formalities regarding the impeachment process. Coordinator of Finance Nico Marceca also brought proposals of funds to the Senate.

PSGA Blog Number Nine: The Senate Grants Tech Services Funds and Concludes on Probation Resolution

This week, the PSGA met to further discuss topics such as the Probation Resolution, the appointment of another Associate Justice, and funds proposals.

Director of the Office of Student Life and Community Partnerships Jason Alt made a guest appearance and further clarified information regarding the Probation Resolution. Most importantly, he answered a reoccurring question facing the Senate of whether or not the PSGA was separate from the administration. According to Alt, the answer was no.

PSGA Blog Number Eight: The Senate Discusses Beautification of Campus Construction

This week, the PSGA met to once again discuss the issue of the Probation Resolution and raised some of the same concerns as last week. Also, guest speaker Kristina Colby presented an upcoming art project to the Senate that she said will liven the appearance of some construction sites on campus.

PSGA Blog Number Seven: Probation Resolution Policy Debated, New Senator and Justice Appointed

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, the PSGA held its seventh Senate meeting of the semester. An issue that caused major discussion was the Probation Resolution policy. This is a document stating that the college has the right to make sure certain students are in proper academic standing if they’re involved with the PSGA.

PSGA Blog Number Six: The Senate Vetoes Executive Board Decision on Rocky Horror Purchase Show and Appoints New Senators

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, the PSGA met and continued their discussion on funding the Rocky Horror Purchase Show. Originally, the Executive Board declined to permit a $2,500 grant to the show because its recipient was unclear.

The Senate concluded that the ruling was the result of miscommunications and vetoed the Executive Board’s decision, but were still unsure of whom to address this check to. President Kevin Collymore acknowledged the fact that PSGA money cannot be given to an individual, but only a department or an organization.

PSGA Blog Number Five: Senate Seeks Ways to Fund Rocky Horror Purchase Show

The PSGA met on Wednesday, Oct. 7 and encountered significant discrepancies with funding the student-run musical, The Rocky Horror Purchase Show. Representative Trevor Collins said the production, which is scheduled to take place at the PepsiCo theatre, would not be able to continue without the necessary funds.

Collins spoke of the financial problems facing the production. He said that sound, lighting, the show’s rights, costumes, and scenery were crucial to the show and must be covered in the end.
