Purchase Student Government Association President Kevin Collymore bid farewell to the Senate this week in his final State of the Union speech. He said that he felt fortunate to have worked with the PSGA throughout the year, and that he was confident in those fulfilling executive roles in the future.

Student Activities Coordinator Jordan Davis resigned at this week’s Purchase Student Government Association meeting after facing nine different impeachment charges, some of which were filed by Senator of the Olde Allison Portney. He said he would rather have resigned than go through the grueling impeachment process.

Election season arrived on Wednesday, April 14, when candidates running for executive positions within the Purchase Student Government Association met to pitch their ideas to the Senate. Of the eight positions available, the most sought-after spot was for Major Events Coordinator, currently held by Sam Schachter.

Senators shared their proposals for how they planned on spending their Senator Initiative money on Wednesday, April 7 at the Purchase Student Government Association meeting.

Impeachment charges were filed on Wednesday, March 24, at a meeting of the Purchase Student Government Association against Finance Coordinator Nico Marceca. The charges were brought to the Senate by Tech Services Head Edward Willock, but were discarded when the body found Marceca innocent after deliberating in a closed session.

At the Senate meeting on Wednesday, March 17, Purchase Student Government Association President Kevin Collymore said in his executive report that Provost Damian Fernandez would be holding a meeting to address the future of academic programs at the college on April 12.

On Wednesday, March 10, Major Events Coordinator Sam Schachter attended the Senate meeting to update the PSGA on Culture Shock.

At this week's PSGA meeting held on Wednesday, March 3, the Senate appointed a co-chair for the Elections Committee and passed a motion to create the Campus Initiatives Committee. "Let us take your suggestions so we can improve the campus," said Coordinator of Finance Nico Marceca when pitching the idea to the Senate.

On Wednesday, Feb. 24, the PSGA appointed a new Coordinator of Histories and Documents and two athletic senators. The new CoHaD, Daniel Nanni, said, “I’m excited to contribute to the school and help the PSGA become a little more organized.” The new senators said involvement in the PSGA would help athletes to become more recognized. “I feel like we could get more students to come to our events and bring the whole Purchase community together,” said Athletic Senator Brian Thompson.

At this week’s Senate meeting, held on Wednesday, Feb. 17, the PSGA discussed how to handle the $55,000 granted to them by the Purchase College Association. Coordinator of Finance Nico Marceca came to the PSGA seeking opinions on how the extra funds should be used.
