Update: Grimes is no longer playing Culture Shock 2012.

Two artists have been announced for Culture Shock 2012 so far: Grimes and Casey Veggies.

Grimes, or Claire Boucher, is a Canadian solo artist who plays a unique style of electronic pop, mixing soft melodies and trance-like beats into soothing music. She has a voice that can't help but get stuck in your head.

The music has an eerie feel to her that makes you want to sway along to it, while it simultaneously sends shivers down your spine. Her use of harmonies and reverb gives the music a dark, airy feel.

On other tracks, however, such as “Vanessa” and “Genesis”, Grimes creates a catchy feel with a voice that could probably only be described as “Japanese schoolgirl pop.”

Likewise on songs like “Oblivion” and “Rosa” she uses bass loops and hooks to reel you in.

Her previous label, Arbutus Records, features artists such as Blue Hawaii and Pop Winds, and her current label, 4AD, places her alongside Ariel Pink, Gang Gang, and St. Vincent. For fans of pop and artists such as Frou Frou, Grimes is definitely worth checking out.

”I've seen Grimes before, and I'm excited to see her again, especially at my school,” said student Alexander Reid.

Grimes has three albums to date, “Halfaxa” and “Geidi Primes,” both released in 2010, and “Darkbloom” released in 2011. She can be found on Twitter as @Grimezsz, or on Facebook at facebook.com/Grimes

Also playing Culture Shock is rapper Casey Veggies

Renowned for releasing his 2010 debut album “Sleeping In Class” while still in high school, Casey Veggies is a much-welcomed addition to the L.A. rap scene.

The album featured artists such as Dom Kennedy, Nero and Tyler the Creator, as well as an array of catchy hooks, pounding beats and clever lyrics.

Casey Veggies will be touring with Mac Miller on the Blue Slide Park tour starting June 25 and can be found online via @caseyveggies or at facebook.com/CVVeggies.
