'Black Gold' Debate: Peter Bell v. Starbucks

    On December 6, about 200 Purchase students and concerned community members packed into the Red Room of the Student Services building for a screening of the critically acclaimed documentary on the global coffee industry and trade "Black Gold." Following the screening was a debate between Purchase Economics Professor Peter Bell and Starbucks P.R. Representative Sheree Richards. The debate, moderated by Purchase student Keane Bhatt, explored many of the accusations against Starbucks featured in the documentary and the possibility of a 100% Fair Trade Starbucks at Purchase College.
